I started my business trading at Camden Lock from a stall in the East Yard in November 1986, when there were railings onto Chalk Farm Road and the Old Black shed (now Dingwalls) was full of vintage clothing, jewellery, old furniture, pictures, retro pottery, vinyl albums and lots of interesting junk to browse through!
From that small beginning, I now sell my work worldwide, to customers who appreciate the 'one-off' hand made quality of my work and the beautiful Italian yarns I have specially dyed.
A whole new take on knitting - Warm 'One-Off' Mohair coats, scarves and hats, silky garments in luscious colours, photographic ArtKnit dresses and ArtKnit cushions...
I design and make my work at my studio/workshop in Hackney, London, aiming at the customer looking for style and something special.
Sustainability is a high priority of mine. I don't work to Seasons or Collections but design in an organic way, adding new pieces to my range as they occur.
A lot of my clothing can be worn at any time of the year and all my designs are fully shaped on my vintage hand framed knitting machines, involving no cutting of the knitted fabric, making my garments very durable.
As a designer/artist/maker of many years standing, I was selected to be on the Crafts Council Makers Directory in 2017
I am also a member of ACID - Anti Copying in Design.
